The inspiration for the Color-Free Collections came from the idea that color can often dictate our perceptions and emotions. By removing color and focusing on form, Gu Teng aimed to create a space that encourages viewers to draw emotions from their inner world.
What sets this design apart is its emphasis on the tensile force of space. The design process involved the addition of large-scaled geometric forms to a commercial space, altering the light effect and space characteristics. The use of materials such as emulsion varnish, metal, glass, and marble further enhanced the unique visual experience.
The space covers 720 square meters and includes 12 sets of sofas and tables, each with different dimensions. The lighting is specially designed to shine and reflect on the geometric objects, creating a dynamic and engaging environment.
Gu Teng's design process involved detailed communication with the using party to understand their needs and objectives. The biggest challenge was to balance the needs of the customers, the project schedule, and the budget, while creating a space that offers a different perception. Despite the limited construction time, Gu Teng managed to create a relaxing, clean, and comfortable environment.
The Color-Free Collections design is not just about aesthetics. It's about creating a space that resonates with people's inner world, offering room for imagination. It's a testament to Gu Teng's belief that space design is not art, but a field that embraces the inner world of people, leaving more room for imagination.
This design is a shining example of how simplicity and purity can create an artistic and cost-effective space. It's a testament to Gu Teng's innovative approach to design, and a worthy winner of the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award.
